Special?
A few years ago — how many? —, as I played music on the radio, I often spent those long sessions to read critical studies on cinema. I clearly remember reading with passion a book of Michel Boujut on Wim Wenders and a set of articles and critical texts written by Jean-Luc Godard on his work, from directing to editing.
I also remember very well the notes that I took in Les Cahiers du Cinéma, a review I bought regularly. At that time, my note-taking was often reduced to the essential: a stroke of a fluorescent yellow marker on some phrases that held my attention.
On Wednesday 13th April, the Utopia cinema in Saint-Ouen l’Aumône will host the first session of an evening dedicated to Cinema and Philosophy entitled Video Sum (I see I am, in Latin). The evening will take place in two stages: the film (Midnight Special) and an exchange around the film, a convivial exchange, benevolent, far from any heated debate.

Il y a quelques années — combien ? —, alors que je faisais tourner des disques à la radio, j’occupais souvent ces longues sessions à lire des études critiques sur le cinéma. Je me souviens ainsi avoir lu avec passion un ouvrage de Michel Boujut sur Wim Wenders et une série d’articles et de textes critiques de Jean-Luc Godard sur son travail, de la mise en scène au montage. Je me souviens aussi très bien des notes manuscrites que je prenais dans Les cahiers du cinéma que j’achetais régulièrement. À cette époque, ma prise de notes était souvent réduite à l’essentiel : un coup de marqueur jaune fluo sur quelques phrases qui retenaient mon attention.
Le 13 avril prochain, le cinéma Utopia de Saint-Ouen l’Aumône accueillera le premier numéro d’une soirée Cinéma et Philosophie qui s’intitule Video Sum (Je vois je suis, en latin). Le film retenu sera Midnight Special. La soirée se déroulera en deux temps : la projection du film et un échange autour du film, un échange convivial, bienveillant, loin de tout débat houleux.
